The primary responsibility of the Business Intelligence Manager is to manage and provide a clear direction for the BI organization's analytics and reporting team. The Business Intelligence Manager is a key role within the Engineering organization, and will work across various teams to develop, optimize and oversee the conceptual, logical, and physical data systems, data warehouses, ETL, and analytics environments. This is a hands-on role which requires analyzing new data system requirements, design implementation, and optimization of the data architecture. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in data analysis and people management, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, great communication skills, and be effective in working cross-functionally.


Responsibilities:


  • Create Business Intelligence practices and drive implementation from concept to delivery.
  • Establish and improve processes and procedures related to data management and database implementation.
  • Work with our clients to understand and refine their requirements.
  • Work closely with the development and product teams to design and implement efficient database structure and queries.
  • Manage a small team of data analysts.
  • Design and implement effective data architecture including database solutions and models to store and retrieve data in both transactional and analytical environments.
  • Drive performance improvement in data structure and operations.
  • Recommend data integrity checks and controls to ensure data quality. Help maintain the integrity and security of the database.
  • Advise and provide guidance on production environment implementations for database, data warehouse, and business analytics, including capacity planning and security design.
  • Review reports for correctness and completeness.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a data architect or similar role.
  • 2+ years in a people management or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of transactional database systems (particularly Oracle and PostgreSQL) and Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence / analytics systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing Data Architecture, relational databases like Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such Couchbase and MonogoDB.
  • Experience with ETL tools, such as Pentaho.
  • Experience with ERwin Data Modeler or comparable data modeling tools.
  • Experience with open source database change management tools like Liquibase.
  • Knowledge of Java, SQL, Hibernate, Linux, scripting(Python, shell)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a SaaS environment is a big plus.
