The Data Architect is a key role within the Engineering organization, and will work across various teams to develop, optimize and oversee the conceptual, logical, and physical data systems, data warehouses, ETL, and analytics environments. The role requires analyzing new data system requirements, design implementation, and optimization of the data architecture. The Data Architect will be the gatekeeper for all data related changes, and will implement best data management practices across the development, test and devops teams. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in data analysis and management, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, great communication skills, and be effective in working cross-functionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and oversee conceptual, logical, physical data systems.
  • Design and implement effective data architecture including database solutions and models to store and retrieve data in both transactional and analytical environments.
  • Work closely with the development and product teams to design and implement efficient database structure and queries.
  • Design, implement, and improve the processes in the data management and data governance, the areas including availability, usability, consistency, data integrity, and data security.
  • Drive performance improvement in data structure and operations.
  • Establish and improve processes and procedures related to data management and database implementation to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations. Recommend data integrity checks and controls to ensure data quality. Help maintain the integrity and security of the database.
  • Advise and provide guidance on production environment implementations for database, data warehouse, and business analytics, including capacity planning and security design.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a data architect, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of transactional database systems (particularly Oracle and PostgreSQL) and Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence / analytics systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing Data Architecture, relational databases like Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such Couchbase and MonogoDB.
  • Experience with ETL tools, such as Pentaho
  • Experience with ERwin Data Modeler or a comparable data modeling tool.
  • Experience with open source database change management tools like Liquibase
  • Knowledge of Java, SQL, Hibernate, Linux, scripting(Python, shell)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a SaaS environment is a big plus.
